Kina

Superheroes in Taranaki and the UK: Graham Kirk
This show represents a continuum of Graham Kirk’s Superhero theme which started in 1975 with Superman at the Hawera Water Tower. Locations include Wonder Woman at Back Beach, Batman and Robin in Pukekura Park, along with Tintin and Captain Haddock on the New Plymouth Walkway.

The line drawn Superheroes have been replaced by 3D heroes drawn from the silver screen rather than the comic page. The super-realism backgrounds are still a feature, as is the grand scale of Graham’s paintings.

Along with this exciting exhibition KINA is also showcasing Graham’s fine art prints that can be viewed in the design store along with many other creative New Zealand artists work.
