Very few of these exquisite and fascinating ‘mirror tents’ remain
but the Taranaki International Festival of the Arts is thrilled to
be bringing one of the most beautiful, the Spiegeltent Salon Perdu,
all the way from Europe to Taranaki.
This wonderful hand-made structure
of rich timbers, canvas, mirrors, and stained glass is decorated
with sumptuous textiles. In its early
days, last century, Spiegeltent Salon Perdu toured Europe as a
travelling dance hall, wine tasting marquee and cabaret venue. With
only a handful
now still in existence, don’t miss this rare opportunity to
experience something very special.
The Spiegeltent Salon Perdu will host the Classic Hits Cabaret
and Comedy series, as well as the festival’s literary programme,
the Power of Words.
Full bar facilities will operate, with platter,
dessert and coffee options. Members of the public are welcome
to enjoy the atmosphere
and bar/café facilities of the Spiegeltent every festival
night from 6.30pm, however, only ticket holders will be able to
remain in the venue during shows.
All
visitors will have to leave the venue prior to shows starting,
ticket holders will then be invited to re-enter the venue to
take their seats for the show. After the final performance of
the night
the Spiegeltent will once again be open to members of the public.
A
limited number of premium booths seating eight persons are
available. So gather a group of friends and reserve your booth.
General admission
seating is also available.
