Community Lantern Parade
New Zealand/Aotearoa

Postponed Due to bad weather until Sunday 9 August.
Same time, same venue, different day.

You’re invited

Gather your family and friends and join this magical event to celebrate the opening of the 2009 Taranaki International Festival of Arts.

Over the last few months the people of Taranaki have been coming together in schools, community venues, and homes to make lanterns for this breath-taking opening of Taranaki’s tenth arts festival.

Ethereal and exquisite, this magnificent mid-winter parade of light and sound will weave its way through Pukekura Park illuminating the landscape with a sea of lanterns. Singers and musicians will accompany the parade as it proceeds towards its destination at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands.

In case of rain the parade will still go ahead (bring gumboots, raincoats and umbrellas). In case of appalling weather, the parade will be postponed until the following evening..

Thurs 23 July (rain day Fri 24 July), 5.15pm
Pukekura Park, starts at the cricket ground and proceeds through the park to the TSB Bowl of Brooklands. Listen to local radio stations and refer to the Daily News for information.
