Hamish Keith
The Big Picture
New Zealand/Aotearoa

This re-run of the recent television series documents in detail some of the most significant art works of our history. The series tells the story of New Zealand art from earliest rock drawings to the present day.

Through these six 50-minute episodes, Keith presents a personal, and at times controversial, view of New Zealand’s cultural history, showing how artworks reflect the way we have shaped our lives.

The series confronts New Zealand’s ‘cultural cringe’ and the impact it has had on our art history. Keith asserts that some conventional ideas about art need to be turned on their head and challenged.

Keith is a guest author as part of the Power of Words literary programme. Check out the details here.
